Patriotic deco mesh wreath step by step
You will always ask what my favorite net is and my answer is always the jute net with the foil running through it. This is the deco mesh we're going to use today. It's a bit lighter as it's a bit see-through, but we've included ribbon clusters and a beautiful patriotic bow to cover the frame.
Step 1: Prepare your mesh and tape.
Cut your mesh into 12 pieces that are 20 inches tall.
Cut the two 2.5 inch strands of wire you will be using for your wreath into 12 pieces that are 14 inches long. Take one from each ribbon and line it up with your favorite pattern. Then fold each pair in half.
Step 2: Attach pipe cleaners to the wreath frame.
Twist a pipe cleaner around the two inner rings of the frameson each of the six brackets of the frame. Then twist a pipe cleaner around the two outer rings positioned between the six brackets. Make sure the pipe cleaners are tied tightly up to the wire frame.
Step 3: Make your deco mesh ruffle
Lay your netting with the roll facing you, then crumple the netting, gathering it while pulling it towards you and gathering it to the center. Using the mesh with the foil lines, use the center blue line to curl the center. Pinch the center of the mesh ruffle to look like a butterfly.
Step 4: Attach your mesh ruffle
Starting with the outer pipe cleaners, place the ruffle horizontally between the pipe cleaners with the "wings" going out to the sides. Then twist the pipe cleaner around the center of the ruffle. Since we are making this ring pancake style, overlap the bottom and top of the right "wing" over the left bottom and top. The mesh will be round and flat.
Repeat steps 3 and 4 around the outer pipe cleaners.
Step 5: Attach Your Ribbon Clusters
Take your folded pairs of ribbons, unfold them and pinch the centers together to form them into a V shape, then place them in the center of your stitch bundles with the ribbon ends facing you. Secure the tape with the pipe cleaners, then trim off excess pipe cleaners. Pull the ribbon tails around and spread them out.
Step 6: Repeat steps 3-5 on the inner ring
After attaching the mesh clusters to the inner rings, go through and add your band clusters.
Step 7: Make and attach your patriotic bow
Using the 2.5 inch wire tape, measure about 8 inches for the tail, then make a 6 inch loop. Pinch, twist and then make another loop. Repeat until you have two loops and a tail on each side.
Do the same with your 1.5 inch bands, making the tail and loops slightly smaller. Make two loops on each side.
The last loop from the 1.5 inch ribbon has an additional smaller loop in the middle to hide the pipe cleaner. The middle loop should be about 1.5 inches smaller than the other loops. Once you've made this loop, pinch, twist and make the other loops slightly larger. They have two loops on each side in addition to the center loop.
Stack the ribbons on top of each other (an EZ Bow Maker will help) and wrap a pipe cleaner around the center. Interlock the ribbon ends, then lift the middle loop up to hide the pipe cleaner. Slide the pipe cleaner through the mesh and ribbon, wrap around the rim rings and twist the pipe cleaner to secure. Loosen up your bow by pulling on the ends and loops and separating them.

Step 8: Attach Your Patriotic Sign
Glue the zip tie mounts to the back of your shield. Slide the pipe cleaners through the mounts about 1 inch and twist the zip tie to leave a long pipe cleaner arm on each side of the shield. Place the shield on top of the wreath and position it to cover the pipe cleaners in the center of your net and ribbon clusters. Push the pipe cleaner through the rim, turn it and fix it at the back.

instructions
Cut 12 pieces of mesh at 20 inches. Cut 12 ribbon ends from each of your 2.5 inch wire ribbons that are 14 inches long. Pair the bow ends together with your favorite pattern on top.
(Video) How to make a Patriotic BowAttach pipe cleaners around the top (or inner) two rings on each of the frame's six brackets. Then attach six more pipe cleaners around the bottom (or outer) rings in the spaces between the brackets.
Lay your netting flat, then gather the netting in the center while pulling towards you to form a netting ruffle.
Starting with the outer ring only, place the mesh ruffle horizontally on the pipe cleaner and secure the pipe cleaner around the center of the ruffle.
Overlap the top and bottom of the right side mesh ruffle with the top and bottom of the left mesh ruffle. The mesh looks like a circle and lies flat.
Repeat steps 4-5 for all outer pipe cleaners.
Take your pairs of ribbons, pinch each pair in the middle, then place each pair in the center of a mesh bundle and twist the pipe cleaner around the ribbon. Do this for each outer mesh cluster.
Repeat steps 3-7 for the inner ring.
Make a loop with your 2.5" and 1.5" cable ties. Start with your 2.5 inch ribbon. Measure an 8 inch tail, then make two 6 inch loops on each side by making one loop, pinching, twisting and then making another loop. Repeat the same for your 1.5 inch ribbons, making each one with a shorter tail and loops. As you work on the final ribbon, along with two loops on each side, make a center loop that is 1.5 inches smaller than the other loops.
Stack the ribbons on top of each other and wrap a pipe cleaner around the center. Use the middle loop to hide the pipe cleaner. Slide the pipe cleaner through the mesh and ribbon, wrap around the rim rings and twist the pipe cleaner to secure. Loosen up your bow by pulling on the ends and loops and separating them. Dovetail at the ends.
Glue the zipper mounts to the back of your shield, then attach a pipe cleaner to each mount. Make sure the pipe cleaner's arms are long enough to protrude through the mesh and pivot around the frame.
