Kalbsfetttransfer in London
Calf fat transfer, also known as lipofilling or calf fat grafting, is a minimally invasive calf enlargement surgical procedure that performs calf augmentationliposuctionof fat, followed by fat injection in the calves.Fat transfer first involves liposuction to remove fat from areas of the body where it is present in excessive amounts, also known as the donor area. Common donor areas are abdomen, hips and thighs. The fat obtained is then gently processed before it is injected back into the calves. Autologous fat grafting is a highly effective method of calf augmentation and an alternative to siliconeVaden implants. Many patients have underdeveloped calves, often as a result of a previous illness or injury. A common example is an old torn Achilles tendon leading to muscle atrophy in the calf. Other causes include weight loss and the aging process. Fat grafting also has positive rejuvenating effects, including an improvement in vascular supply and an improvement in the quality of the overlying skin, which helps improve the end result.

Fat grafting has applications in other areas as well, including use for scar revision and treating a range of skin conditions includingacne scars. The main goal of any fat transfer procedure is to increase the volume in the area where the fat will be transferred.
Fat transfer has been performed for many decades and has proven to be a very safe and effective treatment to restore volume permanently. The main benefit of fat transfer compared to other surgical and non-surgical calf augmentation techniques such as implants or fillers is that it uses your own body tissue and therefore eliminates the risk of an immune reaction. Fat transfer also results in a more natural look compared to implants. The percentage survival rate of the transferred fat is between 60 and 70%. Patients who smoke or have a compromised immune system may have a lower percentage of transplant survival.
Compared to calf implant surgery, calf fat transfer is a minimally invasive surgical procedure with a shorter recovery period. The scars are barely noticeable after the fat transfer and your surgeon will usually make small incisions within the body's natural skin folds. Center for Surgery is one of the few clinics in the UK specializing in calf augmentation with fat transfer and implants. Our plastic surgeon can advise you on the most appropriate treatment option during your consultation.

What is autologous fat transfer?
Autologous fat transfer is the medical term for fat transfer or autologous fat transplantation. The term autologous fat transfer refers to the fact that the fat removed comes from the same person and is injected back into the same person. Thus, all autologous fat transfer procedures performed in the Center for Surgery are autologous fat transfer operations.
Autologous fat is a highly effective solution for volume augmentation as it is easily removed by liposuction and the fat does not provoke an immune response as it comes from the same person and is therefore also non-toxic. The main requirement for successful fat transfer is that patients have sufficient fat reserves to be able to appropriately remove the right amount of fat.
In recent years, fat has been found to have useful uses beyond increasing volume and is now being used to improve the appearance of scars and also for facial rejuvenation and improving skin quality. Patients who have previously received radiotherapy for breast cancer may benefit from the regenerative effects of fat grafting on the irradiated breast. I thought that these beneficial effects of transferred fat came from the mesenchymal cells present in high concentrations in fat.
Autologous fat can now be processed into micro-fat and nano-fat for rejuvenating applications beyond volume restoration.

Veal fat transfer expected results
Calf augmentation is a surgical procedure that augments underdeveloped calves to achieve a toned, well-proportioned leg. Calf augmentation can be performed with custom silicone calf implants or autologous fat transfer.
Most want curvaceous, full, natural-looking calves that look strong yet shapely. But despite regular exercise and a proper diet, achieving a well-toned leg can be very difficult. Even exercises that focus on developing lower leg muscles don't guarantee you'll get the best looking calves. Because of this, many people request calf augmentation with calf implants to either fill out those thin legs or shape their legs to perfection.
Ideal candidates for veal fat transfer
If you are looking to enhance your legs to achieve a more aesthetically pleasing, balanced look in your calves, then calf augmentation surgery is for you. Calf augmentation surgery can correct deformities that result from an injury or that you were born or developed with in adulthood.
You should be realistic about what calf augmentation surgery can achieve and understand the risks and side effects of this surgery.

Surgical techniques for calf fat transfer
Calf augmentation with fat transfer is performed under a general anesthetic known as TIVA or total intravenous anesthesia. The procedure is carried out as aday caseand lasts about two to three hours.
Fat must first be taken from the places where fat is to be removed. The fat is then prepared before being injected into the calf to achieve the optimal size and shape.
The recovery process after veal fat transfer
After the calf fat transfer, you should expect some pain or discomfort that lasts five to seven days. Bruising and swelling are normal during this time.
After about two weeks, you should return to your normal daily routine. However, you must refrain from strenuous physical activity for at least six weeks.
Calf fat transfer before and after
frequently asked Questions
- What happens after the calf fat transfer?
After the calf fat transfer is complete, you will be scheduled for a follow-up appointment with one of our experienced post-operative nurses at the clinic, typically between 7 and 14 days after your procedure. At this appointment, your nurse will remove your bandages and assess your incisions to ensure they are healing well and provide further post-operative guidance at this stage. Any sutures that need to be removed will be removed at this appointment and you will be advised when to start showering.
After six weeks you will be evaluated by your surgeon to assess healing and results to ensure you are having an optimal recovery. Post-op photos are usually taken at this appointment to compare to your pre-op photos.
At all stages after your recovery phase procedure, you can contact our clinical support team if you have any questions or concerns. By proactively monitoring your care in the post-operative period, your potential for a smooth recovery will be maximized.
- What can I expect after the fat transfer to the calves?
Once you have recovered from the effects of sedation or anesthesia in our state-of-the-art convalescent facilities, you will be evaluated by one of our experienced convalescent nurses who will prepare you for a safe discharge. It is common to feel a bit tired and sleepy, but this is short-lived and you will feel much better after 3-4 hours. After spending sufficient time in the relaxation suite, you will be given something to eat and drink to build your energy. As soon as your companion has arrived, you may leave the clinic and travel home with your companion in a car or taxi.
It is not uncommon to experience mild discomfort immediately after the fat transfer procedure; However, this will quickly settle down once your surgeon starts taking the prescribed oral pain relievers. Our expert clinical support team is available to answer your questions and you will be called by one of our post-operative nurses approximately 24 hours after your procedure.
- Do I need someone to take me home after the operation?
Yes. Calf fat transfer is performed under sedation or anesthesia and you will therefore be quite sleepy after the procedure. According to national guidelines, you are not allowed to drive yourself home after the autologous fat transplant. You will need a responsible adult companion to meet you and look after you for the first 24 hours after your procedure.
- How much weight is recommended to lose after autologous fat grafting?
Compared to other types of surgery, fat transfer surgery is associated with a very quick recovery, and most patients often return to their normal level of activity within a few days after the procedure. It's still very important to take things easy and gradually build up activity levels. Our surgeons recommend that most patients are back to work within a week and moderate physical activity after two weeks.
When you first start exercising, we recommend starting with less strenuous activities like walking and cycling before returning to more strenuous forms of exercise, such as lifting heavy weights or engaging in intense aerobic exercise like running on a treadmill.
- How long is the recovery period after veal fat transfer?
Fat transfer is a minimally invasive surgery without the need for extensive incisions and can easily be performed on an outpatient basis. With any fat grafting procedure, the recovery time is usually fairly quick without the need for special restrictions or lengthy downtime.
After the procedure is complete, you will be transferred to our day surgery recovery room for 2 to 3 hours, where you can quickly regain normal consciousness and have something light to eat and drink. Once you meet the recovery and discharge criteria, you will be safely released into the care of a responsible adult.
Our surgeons usually recommend that you take a week off work and avoid driving for at least a week. Desk work can be resumed earlier. Most patients can expect to fully recover from their fat transfer procedure within two weeks.
There are a number of activities to avoid after autologous fat grafting, and your surgeon will be able to provide more detailed advice at your consultation.
(Video) Fat Grafting to the CalvesVigorous physical activity should generally be avoided, including sexual activity, for up to 2 weeks. You can start light physical activity like walking and cycling after two weeks and move on to more strenuous exercise like running and weight lifting after 4 to 6 weeks.
After a body contouring procedure involving liposuction and fat transfer, virtually all patients must wear a postoperative compression gown for at least six weeks after the procedure. In the postoperative period, it is very important to follow all postoperative care instructions given to you by your surgeon and clinical team to ensure you get the best results from the procedure. Try to avoid doing too much too soon as this could jeopardize the results of the surgery as transferred fat is very delicate. Your surgeon will provide you with full information about the pros and cons of autologous fat grafting at your consultation.
- When will the final results appear after veal fat transfer?
The healing time after autologous fat grafting is around 4 to 6 weeks and it takes some time before the final results are visible. It is important to know that newly transferred fat is very delicate and takes time to establish blood supply to the fat cells. Some of the fat becomes non-viable and is absorbed by the body. It takes time for the swelling to go down, but once it does you should be able to see the final results of the fat transfer and in some cases it can take up to 3 months to occur post fat transfer surgery.
You should start to see a gradual improvement over the days and weeks after the procedure and as you heal. Once the fat has successfully developed a fresh blood supply, it may take another 3 to 6 months for the fat to remodel. This process varies greatly from patient to patient and depends on the areas where the fat grafting was performed.
Unlike non-surgical alternatives, fat transfer is a permanent procedure, which means that the increase in volume does not diminish over time. However, with age or weight changes, the percentage of fat in the body can change in general, which also affects the area where the fat grafting was performed.
It is generally accepted that fat grafting results in a 50 to 70% fat survival rate. The rest of the fat is absorbed by the body. Fat survival rates vary depending on the body area treated. Patients desiring a further increase in volume may wish to have a second stage lipo-filling procedure 3 to 6 months after the initial procedure to achieve the expected result. Your surgeon can advise you on fat graft survival rates after taking a complete medical history and performing a thorough physical exam.
- Can smoking and alcohol affect fat transfer results?
Smoking and alcohol are lifestyle factors associated with an increased risk of possible complications both during and after autologous fat transplantation. Other factors include having a BMI over 30 and taking certain medications that can impair the immune system, as well as stopping recreational drugs such as cannabis. Smoking is a particularly undesirable lifestyle factor for fat transfer surgery because the components of tobacco smoke can affect microcirculation in the body. This means there could potentially be a higher risk of infection as well as delayed healing. Our surgeons strongly recommend that all patients stop smoking at least four weeks before the procedure and consider using nicotine replacement products. Excessive alcohol consumption is also a potential risk factor for adverse post-surgery outcomes, and reducing alcohol consumption prior to surgery is strongly recommended. We recommend abstinence from alcohol for at least 72 hours prior to the procedure to avoid compromising the anesthesia. The feasibility of fat transfer is compromised by smoking, with fat survival rates as low as 30% among those who continue to smoke after the procedure. Your surgeon will advise you to lose weight if your BMI is over 30 to reduce the risk of postoperative surgical complications.
